The Red Sunburst glaze is beautiful!
Thanks, Ron! While I was down in Florida over the weekend, my friend, Glenn Woods, happened to have the catalogue from the 2005 or 2006 Wooster Functional Ceramics exhibition. It wasn't until I saw that catalogue again that I realized that we were in that exhibit together (you had a beautiful, big platter pictured in the catalogue). Small world, this pottery world.
Yes, that red sunburst glaze is lovely! Is that another David Shaner glaze?
Thanks, Carolanne. No, that isn't a Shaner glaze. That's a glaze I pubished in Clay Times with the name "Millring Red". It was originally a glaze I received from a guy who fired electric -- and it was even a passably good red glaze that way. I modified that original glaze and the thing that really makes it glow is that I'm using it over porcelain (Coleman's cone 10 porcelain).
